PROJECT:
Saskatoon Ped/Pipe Bridge

LOCATION: Saskatoon, Saskatchewan

ROLE: Design Architect

ENGINEER: Associated Engineers

YEAR: 04/2019 - Present

The city needed two new water pipes to be installed between the east and west of the river to improve its delivery system. They also wanted to take advantage of the crossing and include pedestrians and cyclists. The towers tilt slightly to add interest, they also taper at the very tops for both aesthetics and to prevent birds from roosting. The steel structure is made of weathering steel to match the colors of the prairies. The underused charcoal color of the cables and towers were designed to contrast the blue and white sky but still blend in with its surroundings. Apexx Architecture was the Lead Bridge Architecture firm on this project with Maxim as the lead architect.
