PROJECT: Mexico Beach Fishing Pier
LOCATION: Mexico Beach, Florida
ROLE: Lead Design Architect
YEAR: 09/2017 - Present
The City of Mexico Beach wanted a signature fishing pier to replace the existing wooden structure in order to create a statement that would help the city with tourism and visibility. Our team proposed a unique structure that would be able to sustain winds and crashing waves from major hurricanes but still has the charming character of the city and its residents. Using the angles from the battered piles as the overall theme of the pier, custom pier caps, seating and a covered overlook helped make this project cohesive and elegant as it extends into the turquoise waters of the Gulf of Mexico. Apexx Architecture is the Lead Bridge Architect on this project.
